As an individual, each of us is a small voice crying out against injustice. But in our great numbers, we pack an enormous power, which only grows as we infuse more and more of our energy into demanding accountability of our elected officials. In that light I offer the following message which I just sent to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee headed by Congressman Jason Chaffetz.
If my message rings true with you, please join me in flooding the committee with our thoughts. You can use my words or, better yet, compose your own. But kindly consider that without our voices expressing legitimate concerns, nothing will change for the better. “President Trump's legal adviser, Kelly-anne Conway, recently made a statement on Fox News publicly endorsing Ivanka Trump's clothing line and went so far as to describe her endorsement as a "commercial". As a lawyer in a government position, acting in an official capacity, her statement was a shameful violation of the law. However, she was not just representing some department, bureau or committee. She was, at the time, representing the President of the United States of America. This makes it far more than shameful. It is EGREGIOUS.
Yet this is merely the latest in a series of occurrences which need to be investigated as they relate to the ethical, moral and fiscal conflicts of interest being exposed within the new administration. It is your sworn duty as a member of the House of Representatives, and in particular in your capacity as head of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, to thoroughly investigate all such matters as may impact the authority and integrity of the United States of America. DO YOUR JOB.”
