If, like me, you feel you are becoming shock-proof as this new administration takes the reigns of power, this may reassure you that you still have normal human reactions. Statements and actions that would usually register as shock now just elicit a shake of my head or an eye-roll. But as I heard this I had a full-on physiological “fight or flight” nervous system response. With all the insanity of today’s presser it doesn’t seem to have gotten proper attention.
This is the second day in a row he has brushed off a question about the surge in anti-Semitic acts across the country since his inauguration. Yesterday he spent most of the his "answer" talking about his supposed electoral college landslide. Today, after reporter Jake Turx of Ami Magazine took pains to say neither he nor his community was accusing the POTUS himself of being anti-Semitic, our Victim-in-Chief was defensive to the point of being abusive toward the reporter, telling him to “sit down” before finishing the question, calling the question “repulsive,” and ordering the reporter to be quiet as he attempted to clarify it. And these follow the well-timed roll-out of his refugee ban on Holocaust Remembrance Day, and the deliberate and pointed lack of reference to Jewish victims in his official statement for the occasion.
If he is in fact not anti-Semitic (despite the views of his puppet-master Bannon), then he is so pathologically defensive about being criticized that he can't even address a question about real, serious incidents being committed by extremists within our own country.
Or both.
