One of the traits I despise most about RWNJs is their insistence that they and only they get to define who is a “real American”.
They continually imply that people of color, Democrats, LGBTQ folks, people who are not Christian, and people living in Blue areas, are somehow not real Americans.
I cannot begin to tell you how much this pisses me off.
First of all, I was born here. They haven’t gotten rid of birthright citizenship yet, thank FSM.
Unlike Ted Cruz, whose Canadian birthplace disqualifies him in my mind from ever being elected President of the United States, I am a natural born citizen. I am as much of a natural born citizen as Barack Obama LOL!
Second, all four of my grandparents were born here. Unlike DJT who is himself the grandchild of an immigrant, I meet the ridiculous standard set by the Frumious Coultersnatch in her election day tweet:
“At least” four grandparents? Who has more than four grandparents? Teh stupid. Its reach extends far and wide into Right Blogistan, including folks like the Frumious One whom Deplorables love to call “brilliant”.
Not only that, of all the people I know who have four grandparents born here, none of them voted for DJT.
Third, my family goes back at least five generations in this country. I don’t know for sure because record keeping is sketchy, but from family lore and oral history I can go back as far as my grandmother’s great grandmother. That eliminates a whole lot more of the folks who like to jawbone about how their great grandfather “came here legally” when 80 percent of the people passing through Ellis Island made it through the medical examination and legal paperwork in a matter of hours, as compared to the years of bureaucratic wrangling it takes to “come here legally” now.
The New York Times, NBC/MSNBC, CBS and CNN are not my enemy. DJT does not get to claim they are the enemy of “The American People” just because he, channeling Richard Nixon, thinks of them as *his* enemy.
DJT may get to decide who goes on his enemies list but he does NOT get to define who constitutes “The American People”, and limit that label only to people who support him, or voted for him, or go along with his delusional beliefs that he had the biggest inauguration crowd, or that he had the largest electoral vote victory, or agree that his administration is a #finetunedmachine, or hallucinate that he is doing a good job as president.
On the other hand, the fake news purveyors of GOPropaganda, the news organizations the right wing loves to quote, and Republicon leadership who consistently put party above country, ethics, faith and decency, *are* my political enemies and the true enemies of democracy. They have brainwashed a lot of people into disregarding the truth right in front of their own eyes. They are proving it every day they decide not to stand up against DJT and call him out for what he is.
In spite of all this, I’m not leaving. I have friends seriously considering moving to Canada and elsewhere. They can make their own decisions. But I am telling you, I’m not going. When you got skin in the game you stay in the game. They are not running me out of MY COUNTRY. I and mine are staying here and we outnumber them and we are going to prove it in upcoming elections as more and more people open their eyes to what is going on.
I was born here and all my grandparents were born here and my family goes back five generations in the United States before me and members of my family suffered and survived the ordeals of slavery and members of my family fought and bled for this country in military service in several different wars and my own father was a Marine Sharpshooter and I grew up singing patriotic songs and am old enough to remember starting each school day with prayer and the pledge of allegiance and I was taught to love my country in spite of all the wrongs it has done in the name of white supremacy and unearned privilege for the 1% and I registered to vote as soon as I could and I have never missed an election at any level of local, statewide or national voting in my lifetime and I have read the Constitution in its entirety and know a whole hell of a lot more about what is in it and what it means than the current unfit unhinged unqualified occupant of the Oval Office and firmly believe that I myself and 99 44/100% of the people I know (and have ever known) would do a better job as president than he is capable of doing and the journalists, comedians, professors, creative artists, Blue Team pundits, leakers and whistleblowers who are telling the truth about the trashfire that is the DJT Administration are not my enemy they are heroes in my book and Ain’t I An American?
ah, the olden days when Russians were “the enemy”!
