Claire McCaskill comparing the Democratic Party base with the Tea Party is incomprehensibly out of touch, not just with Democratic Party core values, but out of touch with reality. www.cnn.com/...
During the recent election, conservatives, the Tea Party Republican base, were very susceptible to "fake news". By contrast, liberals/progressives, that is to say, the Democratic Party base, was not susceptible to "fake news". The Democratic Party base is well informed.
The Tea Party is the creation of, and funded by billionaires whose goal is to create the reality of their mantra, "Government doesn't work". Intended or not, if the Tea Party is successful the end result will be oligarchy. The beliefs of the people identifying with the Tea Party are propped up by the propaganda that is funded by billionaires through their funding of organizations that sound like they are grassroots, but are not, their funding of so called think tanks that produce findings that support their goals, and billionaire funding of propaganda outlets including Christian Broadcasting. Christian Broadcasting and Fox news listeners and viewers have two things in common: they leave the station on all day long, and it is their primary or exclusive source of information.
By contrast the Democratic Party base apparently does not even have the support of Democratic Party leaders well enough billionaire funding. The Democratic Party base is very well informed and actively seeks information from multiple sources. The Democratic Party base funds itself and funds the Progressive organizations which represent the core Democratic Party values that the Democratic Party leadership abandoned.
The Democratic Party base is committed to what were once core Democratic Party values: equality, freedom, democracy, liberty, justice, fairness. We want universal health care, safe and affordable contraceptives and abortion, equal pay, equal rights, a forty hour work week, paid time off for recreation time to spend with our families, paid family leave, paid sick time, affordable high quality child care (parents in most families work), union representation to ensure safety and fair wages, protection of the environment, we want elections in which individual or corporate wealth does not determine results, AND WE WANT OUR REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT TO LOOK LIKE OUR SOCIETY. Our society is not populated by old white men. Our society is diverse. We want Congress to abide by the same laws as the rest of us and have the same health care as the rest of us.
Wait, didn't Hillary advocate those things? Does that mean Hillary is ...
The Democratic Party base is angry at the incompetence shown by Democratic Party leadership during this past election. Once again the Democratic Party snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. What should have been a rout of the Republican Party, and what should have been President Hillary Clinton, was a loss of the White House, and Democrats gained only a few Senate and House seats. But even with gains in Congress, Democrats like McCaskill are willing to acquiesce to Republicans claims of an electoral mandate. Hogwash!
The Democratic Party base is angry that this election was tainted by voter suppression, FBI interference, Russian interference in our election, and direct communication between the Trump Campaign and Russian spy services and a Russian ambassador. Every patriotic American should be furious.
WTF Claire??? How clueless can you be?
By the way, Claire, in a Democracy people with better ideas challenge those who no longer represent the values of their constituents. And sometimes they can be successful even when the rich and powerful would prefer the representative who sold out her constituents to the highest bidders. I assume this is the case because you are dismissive of the Democratic base, the very people you are supposed to most represent. We are the base of your party.
Speaking only for myself, I do not accept the results of this election. The loser, by three million votes, is President. Russian and FBI interference are the reason Donald Trump was appointed President by the Electoral College. Had the Russians and FBI tilted the election in favor of Hillary, rather than Donald Trump, the Republican leadership would be chanting lock her up, and holding hearings to make that happen. FBI Director Comey would facing severe consequences for interfering in the election. Republicans would be calling Hillary a traitor. And I would agree with them. I am disgusted by the lack of integrity in both the Republican and Democratic Parties. Election integrity is not a partisan issue.
