Yesterday Donald Trump took a break from golf and offending offending everyone at the Anne Frank Center to tweet about “so-called angry crowds”:
Today, Trump’s Press Secretary backed up the boss, claiming that the crowds at the town halls are “partly professional protesters.” Take a listen in the short clip below:
Senator Cory Gardner claimed the people calling his office around-the-clock and showing up to protests were paid and from out-of-state. How would he know? He’s refusing to hold a town hall. His constituents held one for him last night and he no-showed. They all held their driver’s licenses up to prove they are Colorado residents.
Have you ever seen a job listing for a “professional protester?” Nobody I know has ever seen such a listing. Are angry constituents being encouraged to attend town halls? Absolutely. Most of it is driven by the grassroots that sprung up around the Women’s March, the unbelievably successful of use of the Indivisible Guide by every day constituents who are fed up and absolutely going to hold republicans accountable on November 6, 2018. Some of it being organized by groups like Planned Parenthood that have a lot to lose. All of it is real. Real constituents and real anger. That midterm election is only 622 short days away and if these republicans don’t wise up, break the suicide pact with Donald Trump, stop their efforts to repeal the ACA, those “paid protesters” are going to persist at the ballot box.
