The New York Times is reporting that SCROTUS said today he might soften his stance on immigration.
I want to make one thing crystal clear.
This shift in policy, whatever it really turns out to be, is not something to praise.
It should not be cited as evidence that SCROTUS is learning or improving. It should not be used to support a narrative that things got off to a rocky start, but now he's finding his footing.
There is nothing he can ever do to redeem himself in my eyes. Anything he ever does that randomly, accidentally happens to be positive should be considered a fluke. There is nothing good he will ever do that couldn't have been done better by someone else.
Nothing good that he might ever accidentally do will be enough to undo the harm he has already inflicted on our country. Even if you wipe the slate clean of his dishonest so-called business dealings, racism/birtherism, and personal scumbaggery before he announced his candidacy, he's done enough to deserve nothing but disgrace for the rest of his miserable life.
His campaign was destructive and unAmerican, and it will take years to undo the damage. Violent bigots continue to be emboldened because of the atmosphere he enabled. His first days in office have been an embarrassment, bringing dishonor to our country on the world stage. Families have been torn apart and innocent people have been subjected to shameful and unjust treatment due to shockingly reckless and sloppy handling of immigration policy. We will be lucky if he doesn't start a war.
I will not normalize any of this. I will not get over it. I will not stop resisting. I will not rest until he is out of office. The sooner, the better.
