An accountant from Bedford raised £400 for a local foodbank through a U.S. online ticketing website. When he tried to access the money, he was told that the cash was frozen because his name matched a name that was “restricted by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control”. When the accountant proved his citizenship, the money was released. He had used the website to raise money nine times before with no problems.
