My oligodendroglioma was resected in 2006 — brain tumor. I met with a neuro-oncologist yesterday to discuss long-term treatment. Now I'm up at 4:30 AM, deciding among the options and about 7-8 Senators drift into my thoughts : Cassidy, Heller, Murkowski, Collins, Sasse, Flake, Cotton…
The tumor has been monitored yearly. Very little growth over 10 years. About 5 millimeters total. No immediate danger to me but the question is if treatment now would deliver best result for 10-15 years into the future. Big numbers!
Second surgery immediately plus (Hello Jeff and Dean) radiation/chemo? Risk of taking out my left arm and leg. (Can I trust you Tom?).
Or I could wait for symptoms which would mean the tumor has grown and would be tougher to treat. Immunotherapy is on the horizon. (Corker and Lankford just showed up.)
I have the resources now to attack even if waiting is objectively better. I need to consider whether “Repeal and Replace” means I'm defenseless in 5 years. (And Marco Rubio has arrived.)
Doctor concerned about me in 10-15 years? Seems that I have "patient-centered" health care and these jokers in the Senate are trying to strip it from me.
