When hundreds of people are not braving the snowstorms in Wisconsin to let Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan know what they think about his cowardly brand of politics, thousands are out in force to welcome unpopular orange tyrant Donald Trump to Tennessee. Trump is in town to talk about “school choice,” at Andrew Jackson’s The Hermitage in Nashville.
Tacking on school choice to Wednesday’s event could signal that the administration’s budget proposal, expected Thursday, will include a new type of school voucher or scholarship tax credit program -- or at the very least, a boost in funding for charter schools. The administration is reportedly mulling a $200 million school choice pilot program, though it’s unclear what form that would take.
Based on Trump’s track record so far, the “form” this program will probably take will be incoherent, racist, and somehow end with rich people having to pay less taxes. People in Tennessee aren’t interested in Trump’s attempts to dodge concerns over the disaster known as Trumpcare.
State Senator Paul Bailey and his fake news campaign against protestors is probably too busy shining Trump’s shoes right now to notice.
Tennessee saw at least 15,000 people marching in downtown Nashville this past January in solidarity with the Woman’s March in Washington. They aren’t afraid to put boots on the ground. Here’s video of Americans ready to make their voices heard.
