The ACHA was not terrible enough for the Freedom Caucus:
According to Bloomberg, the offer that Trump presented to the Freedom Caucus on Thursday was final. And it appears to have been to remove essential health benefits ― those policies that insurance companies must cover as part of plans they offer ― in the individual market only.
After several days of “deal making,” President Trump has presented a master class in the lost art. I have been extremely pessimistic about the ACHA, believing that it would eventually pass, but it’s looking like I could be wrong. I’m wondering if Act II will be a flat repeal of the ACA and an attack on the Byrd rule in the Senate. Regardless, this will no doubt go down as one of the most ineffective 100 days since 100 days were a thing.
Way to go Trump and Ryan!
