Sooner or later the FBI will have Enough - enough of Trump's shenanigans and enough evidence. There will then be a "meeting." My best guess as to what will go down is the following:
- Trump will resign and go into exile (remember how it went down for Nixon in Watergate)
- Pence becomes president
- [The following assumes there's enough dirt on Pence]
- Pence will appoint X as his vice president
- The Senate will confirm X as vice president
- Pence will resign
- X will become president
- X will issue a complete pardon to Pence (necessary to get Pence to co-operate)
- X will appoint Y as vice president
Of course, the big question in this scenario is "Who will be X?" Not "Who should be X" - that answer is obviously Hillary Clinton. Not "Who do you want to be X?" - my answer to that would be Bernie Sanders, after all he is an independent (but probably way too liberal).
So who do you think X will be? It has be someone the Republican majority Senate will quickly confirm. If indeed the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians, it shouldn't be a Republican. So what non-Republican will be named as the caretaker president for the rest of Trump's term? The poll below contains some guesses (including Republicans) - what do you think?
