Oh what a tangled web we weave When first we practice to deceive - Sir Walter Scott
Josh Marshall is editor and publisher of TalkingPointsMemo.com has been relentless in his pursuit of the “Trump/Russia story” (I prefer conspiracy). He posted an excellent blog last night filled with names, times, and places with lots of links to detailed source material and articles (Rachel have you seen these?)
His blog is titled The Gravity Is Strong, Part #2 where he drills down into; evidence, explanations, and subterfuge:
One of the most consistent things about the Trump/Russia story is the way that what we might call "the evidence" is so frequently outstripped by the explanations for it and reactions to it in driving a fair-minded person's suspicion that something just ain't right. This isn't to say "the evidence" doesn't hold its own weight; it does just fine. But the inability to give even remotely straight answers, the need for deflections and subterfuges that are demonstrably preposterous (Manafort was a marginal figure in the campaign) keeps coming up again and again.
He calls out Devin Nunes (for the dolt that he is):
...the progression of events with Nunes, from the slavering fealty to the President, serial rapidly debunked denials of new Trump revelations, the bizarre late night cloak and dagger stunt all building to this refusal to disclose whatever secret evidence he possesses to any other member of his committee ... the chain of events is so wild and far-fetched that under normal circumstances official Washington might be considering whether Nunes was having some kind of psychological breakdown.
Marshall points out a lengthy piece on a part of the story published by Russ Baker and his colleagues at Baker's independent news site WhoWhatWhy.org; Why FBI Can’t Tell All on Trump, Russia. It’s a very detailed piece so open up your favorite bottle and sit back.
He concludes his blog with:
Whatever is there will take a firm hand to uncover. Like the violent gravitational forces around a black hole, the force of this story will just tear a hapless goober like Nunes to pieces.
I conclude that Trump and his minions make “The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight” (RIP Jimmy Breslin you were a real American original) look like winners.
When is a coverup not a coverup? When the coveruptese (sic) tell you everything you need to know and more!
We are in the early days of something bigger than Watergate. We have yet to have our "Sammy the Bull" Gravano moment(s). Who will it be; Flynn, Epshteyn, or Cheeto Face himself?! But rest assured it’s coming. (Gee, I wonder if Putin himself would throw Trump under the bus?)
