Just added some more tweets to our on-going list after Trump’s tweet rant this morning. We are up to a baker’s dozen now. And that is just since Trump became President.
Some thought that once Trump became President his late-night tweeting would stop. The reasoning was that once he assumed the highest position of authority in the US and perhaps the world, he would reign in his impulses and try to be more “presidential” when tweeting. Or his advisors would convince him to stop his tweet rants, or at least get the tweets edited before he sent them out, in the interest of national sanity.
Well, Trump’s tweeting hasn’t slowed one bit since he became President. Scandalous comments come from @realDonaldTrump and now @POTUS, where he often retweets himself.
Here at the Trump Impeachment, we closely follow Trump’s tweets, since we believe the path to his impeachment leads through Twitter. Either his impeachment will be sparked by something he tweets, or when he gets himself into big impeachment trouble, his tweets will only make things worse.
So what are the worst tweets from Trump since he became President? Here is our list.
1. Fake Tears Chuck Schumer
On Jan 31, after Chuck Schumer reacted emotionally during a press conference in opposition to the immigration ban, the schoolyard bully made fun of him and his press conference. Oh wait, the President of the United states called him “Fake Tears Chuck Schumer” and taunted the AV club over their technical difficulties.
2. Immigration Ban is Popular
On Feb 8, Trump attempted to combat the fake news by reporting some news of his own. He tweeted a graphic from a Morning Consult/Politico poll that showed 55% supported the immigration ban. The same poll reported that Trump’s approval rating dropped by 2 points and his disapproval rating jumped by 5 points. Is real news really just selectively reporting the facts that you want? Seems that way.
3. Arnie, You Suck
On Feb 3, having already slammed Arnold Schwarzenegger on Twitter for poor ratings on the Apprentice before he became President, Trump took the time to slam him once again after becoming President. Oh, and Arnie you sucked as Governor of California too.
Then on March 4, after Schwarzenegger was reported to be leaving the Apprentice, Trump felt it necessary as commander-in-chief to clarify what happened. This was in the middle of a tweet rant about the the exploding Russian election scandal, cause, you know, this stuff is important. Gives you some insight into how the Donald’s mind works.
4. It's not a BAN, That's Just What I Call It
On Feb 1, Trump lashes out at the controversy about calling his immigration order a “ban”. But he keeps calling it that himself, and as Fortune points out, this is one of the reasons the 9th court upheld the stay of the not-a-ban order.
5. Mark Cuban is Too Stupid
On Feb 12, out of seemingly nowhere, Trump tweeted that Mark Cuban is “not smart enough to run for president”. No matter what you think of Cuban, he is a US citizen and probably doesn’t deserve to have the President randomly calling him stupid.
On Feb 9, after the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against his ban, Trump tweeted in all-caps, the text equivalent of shouting, “SEE YOU IN COURT”. Of course, SNL turned this into a People’s Court joke. Set himself up for that one.
7. Easy D
On Feb 8, Trump suggested the delay in the court decision on the travel ban was letting in “bad people” and that it should be an easy decision to make. But instead of “easy decision”, Trump chose to say “EASY D”. Uh, the “D” doesn’t typically translate to “decision”. Check the Urban Dictionary for clarification, if necessary. Of course, the Internet had a heyday with this one. Check Google Images for clarification on that (NSFW).
8. If it's Negative, its Fake News
On Feb 6, Trump clarified what he means by fake news. Apparently, anything negative about him is fake. The good stuff is true. Oh, and don’t believe any of those major fake news outlets, like CNN, ABC, and NBC.
On Feb 4, after U.S. District Judge James L. Robart temporarily blocked enforcement of Trump’s Muslim ban, Trump called the decision of the judge “ridiculous” and questioned his credibility as a judge. So much for judicial independence, an idea that has been around since 18th century England and was adopted by the Founding Fathers.
10. Nordstrom was Mean to Poor Ivanka
On Feb 8, Trump publicly attacked the retailer Nordstrom for dropping his daughter Ivanka’s clothing line. Was Trump trying to use his position to improve the business prospects of a family member? Kinda looked that way. Good thing he has a senior advisor like Kellyanne Conway who went on TV the next day and said: “Go buy Ivanka’s stuff!” Nope, no conflict of interest there.
11. War on the First Amendment
On Feb 17, the day after Trump came unhinged at a wild press conference, he tweeted out that the NY Times, NBC, ABC, CBS, and CNN (aka FAKE NEWS media, emphasis his), were “the enemy of the American People”. Seems to contradict the First Amendment of the US Constitution, doncha think Donald? Yep, this President and administration are definitely running like a fine-tuned machine.
12. Let Fox News do the fact checking
On Feb 20, the day after Trump held a rally in Florida and referred to the problems Sweden was having with immigrants, which surprised many, including the Swedish government, Trump clarified his sources in a tweet. As was speculated by CNN (aka fake news media), he was referring to a story that he saw on Fox News. Though their sources seem sketchy, we can trust those guys at Fox–they are the real news media. No need to waste time on fact checking.
13. Schumer eats a donut
On March 3, after the media calls for investigations into his advisors meeting with the Russian Ambassador during the election, Trump tries to create his own scandal by posting a photo of Chuck Schumer eating a donut with Putin. Schumer fired back saying: “Happily talk re: my contact w Mr. Putin & his associates, took place in ‘03 in full view of press & public under oath. Would you &your team?” Score one point for Chuck, zero for Donald.
