I have often wondered why the media broadcasts Trump's tweets. This gives them authenticity and diverts attention from real news. The latest example is the tweet that accused Barack Obama of tapping his phone. This was obviously preposterous. If Obama had the character of a Nixon, perhaps this could be true. But a person of Obama's character doing such a thing??? Yet the media spent the entire weekend discussing this non-issue that didn't deserve even a minute of attention. And this media attention lends credibility to the accusation. Trump's deputy press secretary said on CNN that because the tweet was reported by the (fake) media, it must be true! The media should stop re-broadcasting Trump's tweets and start reporting what Trump is actually doing. This re-broadcasting sucks the air out of really important information such as Trump's executive orders (decrees). While we were diverted by tweets, Wall Street was given the green light to go about the risky business that brought the economy crashing down in 2008 (Dodd- Frank was gutted), the toxic waste from coal mining was allowed to be dumped into our rivers, emission standards for automobiles were revised downward, people with mental illness were allowed to buy guns, public park land was opened-up for drilling oil, to name a few. And Bannon's "deconstruction" (destruction) had begun. The Departments of Education, Environmental Protection, Energy, Health and Human Services, and Labor are now headed by people who do not believe in their missions and will most likely have their budgets severely cut.
These are the things the media should be informing us about. Media: do your job and stop reporting fake tweets.
