I first met Peter Harrison in 2015, when I was starting my run for this same seat.
He contacted me and asked to meet me for coffee (something I would come to learn was one of his favorite things to do). I thought that I’d be interviewing him to join my team. Turns out, he was interviewing ME to decide if he should support my race.
I’d like to say he gave me wholehearted support after that meeting, but it wouldn’t be true. He went with another candidate. For good reason. I had good ideas and a lot of energy, but I just didn’t have the right background and support team in place to make me the right candidate. That was a lesson it took me well over a year to learn.
But learn it I did. So after my state primary in August 2016, when I got just under 5,000 votes but didn’t advance to the general election, I went looking for a candidate to support in 2018.
At our Nov 2016 Clark County Democrats monthly meeting
just after the 2016 general election, one of my fellow candidates from 2016 approached me and asked if we could meet up after and talk. He was looking to get my support for 2018. But there was someone else at that meeting who asked me for a meeting, too, and it was Peter.
I’d had no idea Peter was looking to run, but he made it clear to me that he was, and that he had been doing his due diligence. He has a years long history locally of action in the region as a volunteer for the Red Cross, for family-centric homeless shelters and a variety of other community service organizations. He has worked on other political campaigns as a researcher and Issues writer. He was drafted for and currently serves as a member of an Advisory Board to the Port of Vancouver. He is a voluminous reader and a truly smart guy with an interest in Climate Change, healthcare, transportation, education and the environment. He is a dual degree scientist, in Biology & Chemistry.
An interesting FYI about Peter:
You know that “test your internet speed” available on websites all over the place? Peter invented that while working for Microsoft. It paid for his (very nice) house and allowed him to retire early so that he could devote himself to Good Works.
Of all the people I’ve met in the past fifteen years in the political arena here in southwest Washington, including elected and serving US House Reps, US Senators, State Senators and House members, Peter is the one who has impressed me the most as someone I’d very much like to see in government service. He is truly an altruistic person who deeply believes in the message of our campaign motto: Pay it Forward
For Ourselves and our Posterity
Our American tradition is one of looking forward, of doing more than doing good for ourselves, but making things better for our children, grandchildren, and their grandchildren.
Today our political leadership has forsaken this solemn pledge and replaced it with a "Take it Back" philosophy that lowers taxes for a few people and passes debts and failing infrastructure to our children.
It is time for America to return to its roots.
It is time to keep our promise to Our Posterity.
It is time to Pay It Forward.
When he asked me in December if I’d consider becoming his campaign manager, I didn’t even blink before I accepted.
We have already begun to collect staff, we have 7 counties & a sliver of a 8th in our District (Clark, Lewis, Cowlitz, Pacific, Wahkiakum, Skamania, Klickitat and part of Thurston) and have filled two of the County Organizers slots and we have a Treasurer.
We have a Facebook campaign page and a campaign website, which are starting to get action which you can see here:

With a new, dire crisis nearly each week from the Administration of popular vote loser Donald Trump and his cabal in the White House, we need to start NOW to get our Democratic candidates ready to take seats from these terrible Republicans in 2018.
What makes me think a now Four Term Congresswoman can be unseated? Indivisible is what. We have well over 2,000 members of various Indivisible groups in this CD, and I’ve attended some of the events, including one where I personally got to publicly heckle Jaime Herrera Beutler while she lied and lied and lied to my fellow citizens about the ACA and Medicaid and a number of other issues.
Then, she sent out a Press Release the day before Speaker Ryan pulled the AHCA bill, saying she was voting “No”on THIS bill, but she was still looking forward to a vote to Repeal Obamacare.
If this is YOUR District?
Now is the time to help us get our message out and to help us win this seat. Every volunteer hour and dollar will matter.
Become a Peter Harrison for Congress supporter, donor and volunteer. We need your help to win this race and send the best candidate to the Other Washington next November.
Gosh — forgot to add that we are holding a Without OR Without Her Town Hall on April 20th here locally. (R) Jaime Herrera Beutler has been invited but we don’t expect her to attend. So if you’d like to see what a Town Hall LOOKS LIKE in the 3rd CD (because SHE hasn’t held one since she first got elected in 2010) check this out:
Also pleased to report that Peter Harrison for Congress is now an endorser of 90for90.org, where the endorsement means that you support this:
More registered voters is a GREAT idea
