Good morning! Welcome to the DKos Sangha weekly open thread.
This is an open thread for members of the DKos Sangha and interested visitors who happen by. Each of us has our own path; we come here by way of many different traditions, and of no particular tradition. While the language we use may differ depending on the traditions, teachers, practices, and teachings that have shaped our journeys, we find in common, generally, a search for who we truly are, our true nature, and to bring the peace and compassion born of that search into the greater world of which we are a part. If you wish to share, or if you seek support, or if you simply want to say hello, please do; this space is for you.
The universe is one vast interconnected field of energy. This energy vibrates, it dances, manifesting as all perceived phenomena. It manifests, for instance, as the breath, as the earth, as this body, as compassion.
There are different ways to use the breath to move energy through the body; and doing so can be very effective in healing and in maintaining health.
Here is one way to breathe energy within the body.
Sitting comfortably, with the spine fairly straight so that the breath moves easily, establish yourself in the breath. Bring attention to the breath, follow its movement, notice how it moves within the body; nose, neck, chest, belly.
It is helpful that there be an allowing that there is nobody doing anything. Let go of thoughts, let go of any idea of “me”. Let attention be with the breath.
It is also helpful to close your eyes so that the focus is entirely on the movement of the breath within the body.
On an in-breath, let the breath fill from the bottom of the belly up to the top of the chest; and on the out-breath, empty from the top back to the bottom. Continue this movement, following the breath as it moves along the spine, from the bottom of the spine to the top on the in-breath, and from the top to the bottom on the out-breath.
Notice, feel, that as the breath moves in this way, energy is moving along the spine with it.
Continuing this same movement of the breath, on an in-breath, visualize, and feel, the breath pulling energy from the earth where you sit, through the bottom of the spine, and up the spine as the breath fills to the top. And on the out-breath, notice the energy follow the breath back down the spine, returning to the earth.
Establish yourself in this movement, bringing energy from the earth into the bottom of the spine with the in-breath, the energy then moving with the breath up the spine, and then returning to earth on the out-breath.
On an in-breath, bring energy from the earth up the spine to the center of the chest, the heart chakra. We call this area of the upper chest the heart because it is from here that we feel the emanation of love and compassion. Notice that when we bring energy here with the breath, this area warms with love and compassion. Hold the breath and the energy that move with it here in the heart for a few seconds, feeling into this warming love and compassion, before releasing with the out-breath back down to the earth.
Continue this movement of bringing energy to the heart and holding it there. Notice that as this movement is continued, the heart opens further; the feeling of love and compassion grows, glowing within as a warm fire.
Established in this movement, on an out-breath, instead of releasing the energy back to the earth, release the energy out through the chest into the world, sending love and compassion out on waves of energy to the benefit of all beings.
Continue this movement, noticing, feeling, the compassion of this heart radiating out into the world. Establish yourself in this movement of an open and compassionate heart.
When you feel it is time, gradually return to just breathing normally; return to just being; return to the stillness.
~~
There is nobody doing anything.
The heart is healing, and opening.
Love and compassion are radiating.
All of this is arising within the stillness of awareness,
Your true nature.
Everything is.
Just breathing
Just being
Just this
