This is a doozy. Although tonight was the first time I’ve seen this clip of Bill O’Reily “losing it” off air during a Fox news episode, I’ve been informed it’s been around awhile. Since it’s a disturbingly funny piece that’s looks like it’s having a new day on Twitter, I decided to go ahead and publish it here — in case there are others like me who somehow missed it during previous go-rounds, and in case those who’ve seen before are ready to see it again because it’s that good.
Here’s the video tweeted by Yashar, via a Debra Messing retweet).
Transcription:
O’Reilly: That’s tomorrow and that is a …. (not able to finish, huffing and puffing)
(And again, 5-4-3...)
O’Reilly: That’s tomorrow, and that is it for us today and we will leave you with a … I, I can’t do it. We’ll do it live.
WE’LL DO IT LIVE!
FUCK IT! DO IT LIVE! DON’T WRITE IT, AND WE’LL DO IT LIVE! FUCKIN’ THING SUCKS!
(And 5-4-3...)
O’Reilly: That’s tomorrow and that is it for us today. I’m Bill O’Reilly. Thanks again for watching. We’ll leave you with Sting and a cut off his new album. Take it away. (as if nothing ever happened)
The rest of the clip shows O’Reilly’s smiling face during the final take — turn to ”Angry Bill” right after cut was yelled. A camera from above catches him in another off air tantrum throwing a pen, whipping off his jacket, stomping, yanking out some kind of a plug and acting like the little man he is in real life. It reminds me of how I’d love to see like footage from another predator, Donald Trump. You know it’s out there. You know someone is making copies. And you know it’s coming at some point. Hopefully, sooner than later.
Thanks to @Yashar for tweeting the video—adding,
“Never forget. This is the real Bill O’Reilly.”
We won’t forget — even without the video, O’Reilly reminds us every day.
Also, in a different way, the O’Reilly clip reminds me of William Hurt’s character in the movie Broadcast News. More insidious than O’Reilly — but O’Reilly wins in the category of odious. And O’Reilly wins because his clip wasn’t a Hollywood movie.
