How many ways can a single statement be wrong? This one goes for the record.
President Donald Trump reflected on his first weeks in office Thursday, telling reporters aboard Air Force One that “I think we’ve had one of the most successful 13 weeks in the history of the presidency,” according to a pool report.
Since taking office, Donald Trump has scored no legislative victories. His signature executive order establishing a travel ban on six Muslim nations has been blocked by the courts. Trump’s White House has been wracked by infighting, beset by turmoil and resignations, and is principally known for the difficulty of drawing a chart showing all the connections between Trump staff and Russian officials. Trump has managed to deepen the rifts inside his own party, while solidifying his opposition. He’s destroyed the State Department and sent Rex Tillerson shuffling around the world encouraging despair and discord. He’s made accusations against the ex-president and his staff that are so obviously baseless that even his biggest supporters aren’t able to defend them. And he’s managed to maintain his record of being offensive to women, our allies in Europe, and everyone else. Plus he seems on the verge of starting two fresh wars on different parts of the planet.
Yeah. That’s all great. But it’s still not the biggest thing wrong with that statement.
He seems to have miscounted: The presidential inauguration took place on Friday, Jan. 20. Friday, April 7 will mark the end of Trump’s 11th week in office.
