Mitch McConnell said today that there will be no special prosecutor to look into the ties between Trump's campaign and Russia.
Let that sink in for a moment. Despite the fact that just last year, Republicans of all stripes were making fun Trump and railing against him, they are now falling in line to help him. Make no mistake, the GOP is aiding the President in what is likely the biggest government cover-up of our lifetimes.
We must ensure that our senators and congressmen know that we will not have peace until there is a special prosecutor. Call them up, send them emails and faxes, and visit their offices if you can manage it.
But we have to take the next step, too.
Like never before, we have to build the kind of voter coalition necessary to stand up to the GOP and their disastrous agenda. We also have to start building up firewalls in every state across the nation against whatever Trump and his lackeys manage to do when the healthcare debate is said and done.
That firewall starts in Virginia, and the Resistance starts with you.
Virginia gets the first large-scale electoral answer to Trump and everything we’ve been seeing. We have the Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, and all 100 House of Delegates (lower state house) seats up for grabs this November. But we can’t wait until Fall; the Primary Election is on June 13th.
As the GOP has systematically gutted the Voting Rights Act and suppressed the vote over the last few decades, it’s high time that we started to fight back like our lives depend on it… because they do. Democrats need to make a concerted effort all across the commonwealth to get folks registered to vote between now and the deadline — May 22nd. Even if folks are already registered, that’s also the final day to update an existing registration. If you’ve moved or have gotten married recently, you should double check!
Virginians can register to vote here: https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/Registration/Eligibility
You can update and check your registration status here: https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation
If you are an ex-felon, your right to vote may have been (or can be) restored. More information here: https://commonwealth.virginia.gov/ju…/restoration-of-rights/
And if you can’t make it on Election Day, you can vote absentee in person or by mail: www.elections.virginia.gov/…
Fellow Candidate for Delegate Elizabeth Guzman and I have been pushing to get folks in our districts to register, update and make a plan for June 13th. We want to ensure that turnout is as high as possible, and that starts with making sure that everyone who is eligible to vote is registered to vote.
Groups like 90 for 90 and New Virginia Majority have already been working on this. Join up with them; New Virginia Majority is hosting voter registration drives all throughout the commonwealth starting this weekend.
