Has popular vote loser Donald Trump finally done it? Is sharing highly sensitive, classified information with the Russians, burning a trusted ally and important source of intelligence finally over the line for Republican leadership? Fat chance. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is just annoyed that they're not getting down to the stuff that matters—tax cuts and repealing Obamacare.
Appearing Tuesday morning on Bloomberg Business, Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky was responding to reports that President Donald Trump revealed highly classified information about the Islamic State group to Russian officials.
McConnell says, "I think we could do with a little less drama from the White House on a lot of things so that we can focus on our agenda." He said the agenda is deregulation, tax reform and repealing and replacing the health care law.
His only problem with Trump is that all this treason is a distraction from his agenda of kicking 24 million people off of health insurance, letting Big Energy freely poison our water and air, and giving all his big donors massive tax cuts. That's the stuff that really matters. The massive national security threat hunkered down in the Oval Office is just an inconvenience.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Paul Ryan is still waiting for a "full explanation" from the administration. He should just watch Twitter. You know what's behind his refusal to do his job and do something about Trump: Medicare privatization. He thinks it's now in reach, and isn't going to let a little thing like Trump spying for Vladimir Putin from inside the White House stop him.
