Ohhh man. So after learning what might have been the worst news of his young regime on Wednesday—you know, the whole special counsel investigating Russia thing—Donald Trump has taken to bragging about the one thing we know he cares about: money. Specifically, his campaign (it’s like it never ended) put out a press release whinging as only Trump can:
DESPITE UNPRECEDENTED MEDIA & POLITICAL ATTACKS, SUPPORT FOR PRESIDENT STRONGER THAN EVER
Uh huh. And the proof? Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. (yes, that’s what his campaign is actually called) claimed it had raised $314,000 on Wednesday, calling it a “one-day record for digital fundraising.”
Maybe his own sorry-ass record. Right after House Republicans passed their bill to repeal heath care just a couple of weeks ago—and yes, it really was that recently—Daily Kos launched a fundraising campaign targeting vulnerable GOP members who voted for the bill. Yeah, we raised $314,000 … in less than four hours (3:46 to be precise). Just over a day later, we’d crossed the $1 million mark, and we didn’t even have the benefit of raising money for actual candidates—just challengers-to-be-named-later, via ActBlue’s nominee funds.
Oh, and we’re also not the president of the United States of America.
Nope, we’re not sick of all the winning yet—not hardly. Let’s keep winning some more.
Widen that gap with Trump: Please give $1 to each of our funds targeting the most vulnerable House Republicans.
