Trump is obstructing justice. What was firing the FBI Director James Comey other than that?
Trump said Comey told Trump three times that Trump wasn’t under investigation. Sources said that—guess what, Trump is lying.
How is Trump being investigated in Trump-Russia Probe?
Trump asked Comey for a pledge of loyalty. How unethical is that? Comey could not have complied with that unscrupulous demand.
Trump threatened Comey that Trump taped their January 27th dinner. Later, Trump says he didn’t want to talk about taping. Why did Trump retreat from his threat? Now, Democrats are requesting the tapes.
Sessions was recused from investigating the Trump-Russia probe. How can Sessions get involved in the firing of the FBI Director who was leading this?
Trump wants to cancel White Press briefings. How could his spokespeople keep up with all of his lies?
Trump will be impeached when this crew of GOP operatives understand they can’t stand with him.
Trump is obstructing justice.
The article “Sen. Durbin says President Trump 'may be obstructing justice'” states “Sen. Dick Durbin, the Senate's number two Democrat, said President Trump may be obstructing justice by firing FBI Director James Comey, who was leading the investigation into Russia's meddling in the U.S. election and Moscow's ties to Trump associates.
“President Trump is dangerous because he may be obstructing justice in terms of the investigation that goes to the heart of our democracy, the accountability of the president,” the Illinois senator said.”
Trump said Comey told Trump three times that Trump wasn’t under investigation.
The article “Trump defiantly mocks critics in speech at Liberty University” in addition to altering his original statements that he depended upon Atty. Gen. Jeff Sessions and Deputy Atty. Gen. Rod J. Rosenstein. Recommendation to fire Comey states “Trump also described Comey telling him on three separate occasions – once during a dinner and twice on the phone -- that he was not under investigation.””
How could that be as the article states “Since last year, the FBI has been investigating what contacts the Russian government may have had with associates of Trump during the campaign.”
Of course Trump wasn’t being ethical in interrogating Comey in this manner as the article states “It is highly unusual for a sitting president who has authority over the FBI to ask about an existing investigation, although such action probably does not violate the law, legal experts have said.”
The article “My Dinner With Comey: Clapper, Others Dispute Trump Account of Meeting With FBI Director” states “At the Jan. 27 dinner, a week after assuming the presidency, Trump requested a loyalty pledge from Comey, people familiar with the dinner say. Comey replied that he could not offer loyalty, but he could pledge his honesty.”
Comey has always followed FBI procedures and him telling Trump that he wasn’t under investigation would not have occurred as the article states“A former senior FBI official said Comey would never have told the president he was not under investigation — contradicting what Trump said.
"He tried to stay away from it [the Russian-ties investigation]," said the former official, who worked closely with Comey and keeps in touch with him. "He would say, 'Look sir, I really can't get into it, and you don't want me to.'"
How is Trump being investigated in Trump-Russia Probe?
The article “Financial-Crimes Monitor to Share Records in Trump-Russia Probe” states “A Treasury Department unit that specializes in combating money-laundering will share financial records with an expanding Senate probe into possible ties between Russia and President Donald Trump and his associates, according to people familiar with the matter.”
Trump threatened Comey that Trump taped their January 27th dinner.
The article “Comey not worried about possible Trump tapes: reports” states “Former FBI Director James Comey is "not worried" about President Trump's suggestion that conversations between the two of them could have been taped, CNN reported Friday.
"If there is a tape, there's nothing he is worried about," a source familiar with the matter told CNN.
Meanwhile, NBC News reported Friday that the ousted FBI chief "hopes there are tapes."
"That would be perfect," the source close to Comey told the network.”
Trump brought up taping Comey. His advisors told him that might lead to problems, and it did.
The article “Trump on Comey 'tapes': 'I can't talk about that'” states “President Trump during a new interview refused to discuss his tweeted warning to former FBI Director James Comey.
“Well, that I can’t talk about,” Trump told Fox News’s Jeanine Pirro in the clip released Friday. “I won’t talk about that. All I want is for Comey to be honest and I hope he will be, and I’m sure he will be, I hope.””
The article “Top Democrats demand any "tapes," all communications between Trump and James Comey” states “A pair of top House Democrats is calling on the White House to hand over any possible "tapes" of conversations between President Trump and former FBI Director James Comey and all communications relating to his dismissal.
In a letter to White House counsel Don McGahn, Reps. John Conyers, D-Michigan, and Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland, asked for the materials following Mr. Trump's tweet Friday morning in which he suggested that "tapes" might exist and that Comey should hope that there are none.
"Under normal circumstances, we would not consider credible any claims that the White House may have taped conversations of meetings with the President," they wrote. "However, because of the many false statements made by White House officials this week, we are compelled to ask whether any such recordings do in fact exist. If so, we request copies of all recordings in possession of the White House regarding this matter."”
How can Sessions get involved in the firing of the FBI Director who was leading the Trump-Russia probe?
The article “Inside Trump’s anger and impatience — and his sudden decision to fire Comey” details Trump spinning out of control with rage as it states “The known actions that led to Comey’s dismissal raise as many questions as answers. Why was Sessions involved in discussions about the fate of the man leading the FBI’s Russia investigation, after having recused himself from the probe because he had falsely denied under oath his own past communications with the Russian ambassador?
Why had Trump discussed the Russia probe with the FBI director three times, as he claimed in his letter dismissing Comey, which could have been a violation of Justice Department policies that ongoing investigations generally are not to be discussed with White House officials?
And how much was the timing of Trump’s decision shaped by events spiraling out of his control — such as Monday’s testimony about Russian interference by former acting attorney general Sally Yates, or the fact that Comey last week requested more resources from the Justice Department to expand the FBI’s Russia probe?”
Trump wants to cancel White Press briefings.
The article “President Trump Threatens to Cancel White House Press Briefings” states “President Trump took to Twitter Friday morning to defend his spokespersons' conflicting accounts of James Comey's firing — blaming the "fake media" for the confusion and then threatening to cancel all future press briefings.
"As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with perfect accuracy!" the president tweeted. "Maybe the best thing to do would be to cancel all future "press briefings" and hand out written responses for the sake of accuracy???"”
Trump will be impeached when this crew of GOP operatives understand they can’t stand with him.
In the article “Trump will be locked up ” we described all of the scandals concerning the Russian probe that Trump is embroiled in, and all of the people who have lied for him. We also delineated all of the people who might implicate him in the Russian probe.
Republican politicians have a calculation in their mind. They think that Trump has constituents that the typical GOP politician can’t appeal to. GOP operatives are afraid that Trump might lose them more voters than he can attract. Once they make the determination that he will lose more voters than he can attract, they will abandon him.
On June 23, 1972: Nixon ordered the CIA to Stop FBI the Watergate Investigation. On October 20, 1973 Nixon ordered Attorney General Elliot Richardson and Assistant Attorney General Ruckleshouse to fire special prosecutor Cox. They both refused to comply and resigned. On June 14, 1971 Attorney General John N. Mitchell and Nixon obtained a federal court injunction forcing the New York Times to cease publication of the Pentagon Papers.
Trump’s firing of Comey is analogous to Nixon’s actions to impede the Watergate investigation. Trump]s threat to stop White House briefings is equivalent to Nixon obtaining a federal court injunction against the New York Times.
We have shown that Trump has mirrored “Tricky Dick” Nixon’s impeachable actions and he has done more. Now the GOP will not even agree that an independent counsel is warranted. If Trump’s poll numbers remain historically low the GOP will realize that they must accede to the wishes of the public, and Trump’s impeachment proceedings will ensue.
