And YOU are at the top of the list! Your diary is a truly fine one. I really like that you have Nancy Pelosi’s back. I really like that you have the backs of just about all Democratic women!
I don’t blame our fellow Democrats for being frustrated. If, after the most hideous election of my life (and, with Reagan and Bush, that is really saying something), Democrats can’t manage to come together in powerful ways, it is certainly a serious problem. But ‘eating our own’ isn’t the path forward. Far from it.

I look at the causes we hold dear, from global warming to Black Lives Matter to gun violence to gerrymandering to obscene amounts of money in the political process to voter disenfranchisement … the one I think is the biggest, at least in the short term, is Democratic coherence and cohesion. If we have a coherent moral argument, I have yet to hear it. I am not seeing many visionary leaders. I love Reverend Barber’s vision, intelligence and fine morality. I love his commitment and his passion. So far I am not seeing enough people rallying to the movement. (Too, his interest isn’t in a party movement, even if almost all of his real support comes from Democrats.)
I think there is phenomenal passion within our ranks. I hope it translates into a coherent party movement, a cohesive, inspiring movement.
But in the meantime, Brainwrap, your wonderful argument supporting Nancy Pelosi is an important one. It highlights the misogyny within our own ranks, that Republicans are seamlessly transferring across from Hillary Clinton. As you say, Elizabeth Warren is yet another target of the same simple, simple-minded attacks, as is Kamala Harris. And they are not going to stop. They’re going to intensify.
Let me say this simply: Our Party would be NOWHERE without women. Without powerful, intelligent, capable, committed women.
Several years ago, I managed the volunteers for a local Democratic campaign. With the exception of contributions I tried to make, just about ALL of the real work on the campaign was done by women. They were always ready and willing to help. They never had to be helped with the concept of BUY IN. They bought in. They understood. They didn’t just want positive change. They understood that it would require real work. Real investment of serious time and energy. None of the males I spoke with understood that. And none of the males DID buy in. None of them jumped to the task, none of them thought about things to do without being asked. They wanted our candidate to win, sure. They contributed some money. But their work wasn’t impressive.
So thank you, Brainwrap, for your impassioned defense of our leader, Nancy Pelosi, and for so many of the other women standing up for us. I am extremely proud of you. I am extremely proud of them!

Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.
