Donald Trump is deeply unpopular in the United States, with 57% of Americans disapproving of the job he's doing. As bad as that is, it pales in comparison to how wildly unpopular he is elsewhere in the world, as evidenced by this Pew Research poll:
It found that, across the 37 countries surveyed, a median of just 22 percent had confidence in Trump to do the right thing when it comes to international affairs. Seventy-four percent said they had no confidence in the Republican. Adding insult to injury for the former real estate magnate, global confidence in the man residing in the Oval Office has plummeted since Trump became president.
Trump’s predecessor, President Barack Obama, was viewed favorably by a median of 64 percent at the end of his second four-year term.
In short, Trump is toxic and so is his brand. One of Donald Trump’s real estate partners, JCF Capital ULC, has decided to pay a huge sum to Donald Trump so they can be released from their deal and more importantly, remove his toxic name from their Toronto hotel:
JCF Capital ULC, the closely held U.S. firm that owns the Trump International Hotel & Tower in the city’s downtown business district, reached a buyout deal to exit the contracts with the Trump Organization’s hotel unit, the companies said Tuesday in a statement. While no breakup fee was disclosed, the amount was at least US$6 million, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.
Signage may be removed from the 65-story tower as soon as Aug. 1, said the person, who asked not to be identified discussing confidential details.
JCF is the second owner of the property. Interestingly enough, Trump’s original partner investor in the hotel was a Russian-Canadian billionaire:
JCF Capital acquired the tower with the Trump brand and agreements in place last year from former owner Talon International, the developer run by Russian-Canadian billionaire Alex Shnaider. Since then, JCF has been in talks with hotel chains and the Trump Organization to complete an operating plan.
Another big-time Russian investor involved with Trump. A total coincidence, we’re sure.
$6 million to make Trump go away? I’m in! Can we get a GoFundMe or Kickstarter started to buy him out of the White House?
