This is a (no doubt soon to be deleted) youtube comment about an email I got from the office of the speaker, turned rant/diary/message to paul ryan he will likely never read.
Earlier tonight, I got an email from paul ryan, who has my address from angry comments I've sent him in the past. Usually I ignore them, but the subject line made me click on it. "Let's Be More Civil," it read. In it was a message from the evil speaker, himself:
#NationalDayOfCivility is a good reminder.
I think of our country as this beautiful idea. We call it the American idea—liberty, freedom, free enterprise, self-determination, government by consent of the governed—that’s the awesome thing we have here.
We have stressed it, and we have stretched it, and our political dialogue has gotten worse. So what do we do about it?
We control our own actions.
Let’s be more civil. Let’s improve our tone. Let’s have a great debate on ideas and principles and solutions instead of ad hominem attacks against one another. Let’s make sure that when we’re debating somebody, we treat them civilly.
That is, I think, our duty to our country—to help improve the tone of debate and make our shared goal of finding solutions more civil.
(bold is mine)
"Government by consent of the governed?" WTF ever happened to, "government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from this earth?" ryan’s carefully chosen words, which amount to, "sit down, STFU and let us govern as we see fit, losers," are the hallmark of the current gop — which has the nerve to refer to itself as the party of Abraham Lincoln!
Telling people to be civil, when our popular vote-losing, money-laundering, treason-committing, pussy-grabbing, failed entrepreneur and fake president, donald trump, and his partners in crime foster anything but civility, is both rude and hypocritical. Then going on to mention the tone of the debate -- what debate?!? There is no meaningful debate to speak of (at least not between both parties and/or in public), and the people who lack civility are his band of gun-loving, women-and-minority-hating, middle-class-plunderers. So who the fuck does paul ryan think he is to tell people to improve the tone of a debate which doesn’t exist in the first place?
FUCK YOU PAUL RYAN!
If you want shared goals of finding solutions, you need to start out with the shared part. After all, your party has control of the government you think it has consent to ru(i)n. So if you want to do something, like say, do 33 million people out of their health care in the name of tax cuts for the rich, er... I mean, giving 33 million people the freedom to choose not to purchase insurance they can no longer afford without having to pay a penalty to the government, your party can just do it. The only problem is that the proposals y’all are considering are both so horrible and not horrible enough, that you can't get a majority of your people to pass it.
That’s what they call failure, Mr. Speaker.
Then you try to infer that if, "debate," were more civil (read: people were submissive to your brand of government), things would be much better. But what debate are you referring to? The gop doesn’t currently allow any such thing as debate, squelching Democrats and eschewing open meetings, town halls and running from constituents -- I understand you yourself recently said you're done holding town halls.
Just about everything that is currently wrong with this country, is the fault of greedy republicans like you. From refusing to spend money on vital infrastructure, to trying to eliminate social security as we know it, to eliminating healthcare for tens of millions, to engaging in war abroad, to the engineered decimation of the middle class, to the lack of actual debate you speak of and countless other serious issues facing the nation, your gop is why we can't have nice things. You and your band of thieves own all of that and more. Pretending it’s a product of incivility fools nobody and infuriates all but your most die-hard supporters.
However, when you say shit like, "government by consent of the governed," it does not go unnoticed and you are being anything but civil. So you should expect no civility from those of us who happen to hear such atrocious words coming from your mouth. If you and your perhaps once grand old party think that’s the way it’s gonna be, you’ve got another thing coming. Government is about the people it represents, not the people who represent it.
Once again, fuck you paul ryan. Take your national civility day and stick it. Perhaps if the russian hackers are finally taken down, you'll finally lose an election fair and square. Until then, have a shitty day, every day. That’s how I really feel.
BTW, I’m not gonna post clickable links to ryan’s incivility, but if you want to cut and paste, here they are (http://mailchi.mp/press.speaker.gov/lets-be-more-civil; https://youtu.be/LrUUxX5ffXA).
