“Campaigns@dailykos.com” (Mara Schechter) urges us to “...stop a dirty energy bill that McConnell's trying to ram through the Senate this week.”
Sounds just as we’d expect from a Republicrap Senator. Eh?
However, more care might be taken on the part of promoters like Mara Schechter.
(OBVIOUS SIDEBAR: I assume Mara is on to something important, but she has not yet identified it without jumping into her call for action).
Everyone, myself included, is ready to respond against more Washington Madness. Anything introduced by a Republicrap senator is suspect (yes, I’m prejudiced).
The bill Mara protests? SB-1460 introduced my Lisa Murkowski (R-AK). It’s good of Mara to include a link to the bill, which I have gone to and reviewed. I’m missing what you see or what you interpret from the bill.
Mara, it’s crucial to know exactly what language in the bill you oppose as the offending measure that makes you condemn it.
My brief review found only this potentially grievous language from what I expected to find given your email.
“SEC. 4304. Program to reduce the potential impacts of solar energy facilities on certain species.
In carrying out a program of the Department relating to solar energy or the conduct of solar energy projects using funds provided by the Department, the Secretary shall establish a program to undertake research that—
(1) identifies baseline avian populations and mortality; and
(2) quantifies the impacts of solar energy projects on birds, as compared to other threats to birds.”
I can’t say that makes it “...a dirty energy bill...” worthy of our time to phone and write our representatives (as if we still actually have them).
The bill contains sections one would expect that most reasonable planet-regarding sane legislators write, like this from Section-1115:
“(IV) if life-cycle cost effective, as compared to other reasonably available technologies, not less than 30 percent of the hot water demand for each new Federal building or Federal building undergoing a major renovation be met through the installation and use of solar hot water heaters.
We might disagree with the starting “30%” figure but the principal remains solid.
It wouldn’t take much for you, Mara, to quickly identify the exact Section of this Bill SB-1460 and say what’s wrong with it.
Without your specifics it feels like we’re being treated the way Ditto Heads are expected to respond at Trump rallies: belief machine lemmings in a blind rage.
Non-Republicrap Americans should know and elucidate clearly towards a better informed citizenry. So I ask for your help, Mara, in this matter as you seemingly have reviewed this bill and know it better than most readers here---enough to call on us to take action. I’m missing what you see. What specifically are your objections?
