Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, and Donald Trump Jr. all are testifying in private, and not under oath, before the Senate Intelligence Committee, pursuant to a “deal” they made with the Committee.
Jared Kushner, a senior White House adviser and son-in-law of President Trump, said in a closed-door meeting Monday that he did not collude with Russians during Trump's campaign.[...]
Paul Manafort, former head of the Trump campaign, and Donald Trump Jr., the president's eldest son, avoided subpoenas to testify under oath and at a public hearing this week, instead brokering a deal with Senate Judiciary Committee leaders to provide documents and private testimony ahead of any public hearings.
That’s one hell of a deal, for Trump Jr, Manafort and Kushner. Not a great deal for the American people. A public hearing reveals a lot. Body language is important. Spontaneity, or lack thereof, is important. And the question at hand is certainly one the public deserves to be informed about.
Who was behind this deal? Did Sen. Feinstein, D-CA, ranking Dem member of the Committee, approve it? If so, I hope she will come to realize such “deals” are not productive.
