A neuropathologist has found that a large majority of the brains of deceased football players examined in this study showed evidence of CTE, Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy. Many of you have read the stories of players who have killed themselves with drug overdoses or with guns after suffering with the effects of holes in their brains causing Parkinson’s-like symptoms and dementia.
Some of those studied were high school students, who showed milder forms of damage, indicating that it is not necessary for years of repeated head injury for the condition to manifest.
It has been known for a long time that boxers become impaired, but it is relatively recently that football has been added to the list of occupations known to bust your brain.
