There’s no Fourth of July for me without “Yankee Doodle Dandy”, the Academy Award winning musical portrayal of the life of George M. Cohan with the late, great James Cagney in the starring role. So if you want to escape the nightmare of our current political environment for a couple of hours and experience pure joy, catch it on Turner Classic Movies tonight or buy it on YouTube or any of those other places all you young-uns find your movies today. You won’t be sorry and if you have kids to share it with all the better. They can learn some wonderful songs like “Grand Old Flag” and “Over There” and the sweet homage to a name not used much anymore, “Mary”.
p.s. Dr. RJ — I love Better Caul Saul too.
