Quite a week, huh? What with the “Take your daughter to the G20” and Mike Pence being goaded by Marco Rubio into ignoring the “Do Not Touch” sign at NASA. Plenty has happened this week and I am just one diarist so here goes.
This is going to be a sort of Week in Review Top Comments tonight. Call me lazy but I usually only get the time for these Sunday diaries. There are a few things I wanted to highlight from the week. And its my diary, so there.
Oh, quick poll … who would you rather meet your kid, Trump or Obama? Sorry, needed to fill a column inch there.
But first, a word from our sponsors ...
Here at Top Comments we welcome longtime as well as brand new Daily Kos readers to join us at 10pm Eastern. We strive to nourish community by rounding up some of the site's best, funniest, most mojo'd & most informative commentary, and we depend on your help!! If you see a comment by another Kossack that deserves wider recognition, please send it either to topcomments at gmail or to the Top Comments group mailbox by 9:30pm Eastern. Please please please include a few words about why you sent it in as well as your user name (even if you think we know it already :-)), so we can credit you with the find!
Gonna start here:
I’m sure you have seen the NRA ad that (as far as I’m concerned) declared a shooting war with the libruls. Well, the LA Black Lives Matter group posted this response …
Just in case you don’t watch until the end, there is this call to action …
Call the NRA and demand they take down the the videos to which BLM and I are referring …

2 tweets that kind of sum up the week that was …
Yes, that’s our president, the pouter in chief. The first tweet is in reference to Paul Ryan’s new policy that women in his office wear sleeves. That is some serious dog whistle red meat folks, Prime cut. And while on the subject of Boy Blunder, did you know that he won’t do more town halls? Safety concerns, dontcha know?
I don’t like to pimp my own diaries here, but this one is beyond tip and rec so …
July 6 marked the violent death of Philando Castile, shot by a police officer in front of his girlfriend and her 4 year old daughter. In place of the many, I offered an elegy to this one.
And then there’s this, from WaPo … Towns sell their public water systems — and come to regret it
The prospect of offloading these headaches to for-profit water companies — and fattening city budgets in the process — is enticing to elected officials who worry that rate hikes could cost them their jobs. Once a system has been sold, private operators, not public officials, take the blame for higher rates.
But privatization will not magically relieve Americans of the financial burden of upgrading their water infrastructure. Water customers still foot the bill. And although there is no reliable data to compare the service or safety records of public and private utilities, studies show that in most cases, the tab rises when for-profit companies are involved.
Infrastructure is more than just a Trumpian campaign plank. It is truly at the heart of maintaining the health of our nation. Roads, bridges, and tunnels keep the vital shipping industry moving as well as get all of us commuters to and from work. By the way, please check out and sign the petition to save Amtrak. Trains are a reliable and affordable method of transportation for many.
And finally, there’s the Super Huge Very Special Cyber Crimes Joint Task Force (SHVSCCJTF, for those scoring at home). I expect the administration to call for cancelled elections any day now. My fear is that real. Say it with me, THIS IS NOT NORMAL!
Speaking of voting, let’s take a quick look at the Donald’s voting history shall we? I will stipulate that voting in NYC is it’s own thing but this is off the rails nutty …
And then we introduce Donald Trump. In a weird political world, Trump's voting history probably stands out. Donald Trump first registered to vote at Trump Tower in 1987, a few years after the building was completed. Since then, according to The Smoking Gun, he's been a Republican three times, a Democrat once, a member of the Independence Party once and, for a brief period, had no party identification at all.
Curious about how often he actually voted, we reached out to New York-based political consulting firm Prime New York which has an updated list of voter behavior in the state. They provided The Post with Trump's history, back to his first registration. During that time, Trump voted in 18 of 28 general elections -- missing seven during the third-year races. He's voted in two of the 11 primaries he could have -- both of those in which he could have voted since 2010. He could have voted in two special elections, too, but didn't.
Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.
Note: Please remember that comment inclusion in Top Comments does not constitute support or endorsement by diarist, formatter, Top Comments writers or DailyKos. Questions, complaints or comments? Contact brillig.
