I weep for my country.
I weep for those who scream “Blue Lives Matter!” because they do not understand that “Black Lives Matter!” contains an implicit “, Too” at the end, and not an implicit “Only” at the beginning.
I weep for those who see the world in terms of exclusion rather than that of inclusion — they are blind to so much good.
I weep for those who consider themselves “self-made” successes, rather than seeing that we all benefit by being a community and we all benefit FROM the community.
I weep for those who see the world as a zero-sum game — who believe that if you win, I lose. How sad a life is that?
I weep for those who want lower taxes, but do not understand that taxes are the price we pay for civilization.
I weep for those who self-righteously proclaim, “I did it, why can’t they?”, without realizing that certain advantages accrue to those who are born white, or male, or able-bodied, or in wealth, or even in the middle-class.
I weep for those who see people in need and decide that they are lesser, instead of seeing an opportunity to help someone else.
I weep for those who receive government benefits and believe it is because they are deserving, but see others receiving government benefits and believe they are lying moochers.
I weep for those who live their lives in anger...and for those who must become angry to fight them.
I weep for those who are excluded or killed, because they are different.
I weep for those who are held down, so that others may rise.
I weep for those who never had a chance.
I weep for my country.
