On D-Day, June 6, 1994, the Original Anti-Fascist movement began a campaign to disrupt a large gathering of Nazis in Europe. There was violence on both sides.
"There was violence on both sides." That was what Donald Trump said yesterday, 8-15-2017, during remarks in which he accused 'alt-left' protestors of sharing blame for violence with White Supremacist, Neo-Nazi Fascists during the riot in Charlottesville, VA on Saturday.
Let’s be clear: There is nothing 'alt' about opposing Nazis. During World War II (WWII)more than 400,000 Patriots gave their lives to protect America from and rid Europe of the scourge of Fascism. It is our DUTY to prevent it from taking hold here, today or ever.
Around the world over 60,000,000 (Sixty Million) people were killed during WWII, a war that was started by Fascist, White Supremacists whose main gripes (at first) included that they weren't getting a fair deal and their 'heritage' was being diluted. It started with heated rhetoric, incremental steps and the silent complicity of 'good' people who stood by silently while the Evil spread, and ended in a holocaust of unimaginable horror. The world (and especially Americans) saw what the Nazis did to the Jews and we swore: Never Again!
The Evil of the Nazi, White Supremacist, Fascists can't be accommodated, reasoned with or appeased. The only principled response is to resist, to oppose, to stand up to it and understand that this type of Evil and Good can NEVER co-exist in peace side by side.
That means confrontation is inevitable. There will be violence. The questions are: How bad will it be? How far will it spread? How long will it last?
And which side are you on?
