I know this diary is not about politics. However, I love how this community supports its members, and this project is all about travel — something I feel is a very important part of my progressivism.
In point of fact, my work with tourism involves destination marketing organizations — the non-profit and government entities that work to encourage people to come to visit their destinations. I have had the honor and pleasure of working with these folks for over 20 years. Their marketing is earnest and authentic (you can’t really be a tropical island and invite people to come skiing), and the goal support micro-economics more than any other industry I know of. My work is quite specialized, and has taken me across the globe. I’ve worked in this capacity for some of the biggest and best known digital travel websites around. Unfortunately, this had to stop and I had to start my own business when my wife became mentally ill. I couldn’t keep a corporate entity happy and be home to help my kids and her as much as I can.
So, for the past few years I’ve been a personal recession of sorts. I’ve honestly never diaried about this, simply because it pales in comparison to the troubles others in this community have had. And I’m lucky that all I really need from my fellow Kossacks is this:
Please visit my new site — DestinationRecommended.com. It’s brand spanking new. It doesn’t even have any ads on it! But it could use your reviews and ratings. Some you have to register for (that’s free, of course), but if you don’t want to you can even rate and review experiences in your favorite places anonymously.
If this is against the rules, just let me know and I’ll take this down.
Many thanks!
