I hate to do this, but I’m in a great big pickle. I got home to Florida last night after a fabulous week at the Netroots Nation, which I was awarded a scholarship to attend, and then a week with my mother in North Carolina studying the works of CS Lewis. I woke up this morning and decided to go take lunch to a dear friend that I haven’t seen in a while.
My friend works at the hospital on the University of Florida campus. When I got to her office building, I put a quarter in the meter, which was good for 30 minutes of parking. We got to talking, and I didn’t get back to my car for an hour. Well, actually, I didn’t get back to my car at all, because when I went to the parking lot my car had been towed.
I went to the parking people and asked how I could get my car back. They told me I could get it back if I gave them $800. Now, I only make about $1,200 a month, working full time, and my discretionary cash is about $20 a month, so it would take me about 40 months to come up with $800. Thing is, if I don’t come up with the cash in 3 months, they’re gonna sell my car and keep all the money.
This is horrible. It’s really, really hard to be a poor person in this country. I don’t know what else to do except ask y’all if you can help me out. If you can, I’d be so grateful. If you can’t, believe me, I understand.
Thanks for considering it. My Paypal account is jones.nancy@outlook.com.
Thanks again.
