Things to understand about the white nationalist movement masquerading as the White Evangelical movement in America... from Jeffress himself on NPR — interview by Warren Olney.
Remember, this isn’t my interpretation of the White Evangelical movement’s moral depravity, this is Jeffress telling us in an interview what he (and according to him) his fellow white Evangelical leaders and church members actually care about:
1. His support for Trump will never waiver, no matter what so-called racist thing he does, as long as he promises to help them end abortion rights for women. Period. Furthermore, for him, Evangelical values are narrowly defined by two, maybe three issue items: anti-abortion rights, anti-immigrant policies, and tax cuts for the rich. This is his own description in the interview. “Coincidentally,” they align with things they hope Trump may be able to accomplish now that healthcare reform is dead. Nowhere is there any mention in his self-defined Evangelical beliefs of anything Jesus actually talked about. Quite the opposite.
2. Jeffress now says he believes healthcare reform was never a particularly important issue to address and that far more important are the Republican tax cut plans (for the rich).
3. Jeffress says he believes there is “an Axis of Evil” conspiring against the president that is comprised of liberals, the media, so-called moderate Republicans like Graham and McCain, and many religious groups.
------------------------------
So, as many are aware, the White Evangelical movement is a white supremacist movement. The words are as interchangeable as when people like Jeffress talk about the media and “other religious groups” and really mean “Jews.” The term White Evangelical is a euphemism in the same way that Alt-Right is a euphemism… for white nationalism, white supremacy… ultimately really: NeoNazis.
But even for the VERY small minority of decent White Evangelicals who refuse to stop living in denial about that reality, the absolute Biblical depravity of White Evangelical leaders, besides the racism, should horrify you. Their Prosperity Theology is literally the AntiChrist’s message, cloaked in the language of Confederate ignorance.
And even if you’re a non-evangelical Republican, it should horrify you. Because according to them, you’re part of our Axis of Evil. And evildoers for them aren’t human beings with human rights.
And it should horrify Republicans who aren’t even particularly religious, because Evangelicals like Jeffress claim they never cared about your healthcare or what Obama supposedly did to it. Your LIFE in THIS life is evidently meaningless to these cult members… at least compared to tax cuts for their rich members.
Nope, they claim they care about taking away your wife and daughter’s healthcare rights and they care about more money for rich people, because as Jeffress said on NPR just now, some guy in the Bible said that was OK.
That’s ALL they claim they care about. Their words. And sadly, the moral depravity of the right has become so extreme that at this point, these so-called religious leaders have no problem saying it.
Abortion and tax cuts for rich assholes. And maybe a little bit of beating up on immigrants for fun.
That’s the biggest religious group in America and their values… or rather their total lack of anything even resembling values.
So let’s stop calling White Evangelicals “Values Voters.” Enough with the Euphemisms. I guess you can call them Valueless Voters if it really floats your boat.
I prefer the more accurate terms: White Nationalists or NeoNazis.
But both are correct.
