A little filler for mid-week. I will diary some eclipse observations and pictures this afternoon and put a link in the comments.
The Daily Bucket is a nature refuge. We amicably discuss animals, weather, climate, soil, plants, waters and note life’s patterns.
We invite you to note what you are seeing around you in your own part of the world, and to share your observations in the comments below.
Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the phenological patterns that are quietly unwinding around us. To have the Daily Bucket in your Activity Stream, visit Backyard Science’s profile page and click on Follow.

Right place. Right time.
Was on a walk and had a juvenile Red-tailed Hawk fly over me. Which was not too surprising since a family of these have been nesting in the general vicinity for years. (Their nesting location has varied a bit, and there has been some turnover in parents. Hawk survival, especially young ones, can be problematic in a city since there are lots of threats.)
When I crossed back over the river and went up towards the Art Museum I noticed movement on one corner of the roof. Ooo… hawk perching on the roof with a blue background. Then it was two hawks! So I started clicking pictures. And was amused by the number of other people walking around who did not notice or did not care.
It’s a Hawk World. And we just live in it. ;)
