*resident Donny T is more than willing to take credit for everything positive about the preparation for, survival of, and recovery from Hurricane Harvey. It has been a devastating storm that is, even as I write this, coming back from the sea with another load of rain to dump on Houston and points east.
So, what exactly has *resident Donny accomplished that actually has a positive impact on the folks of southeastern Texas as this storms wreaks its havoc? Nothing. In fact, he has done less than nothing. As the electorally confirmed occupant of the White House it is his duty to nominate almost 4,000 people for various positions in our government. And the best example I can think of as proof of his ineffectual leadership (okay, complete lack thereof) is that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has no administrator and the budget DT proposes would actually REDUCE funding for this critical agency.
Therefore, please join me in thanking President Obama for his diligence in maintaining a well functioning FEMA, and our government in its entirety. It was his administration that put in all of the serious infrastructure changes making it possible for Texas to at least receive fundamental care and organization in the wake of this monumental storm. In fact, most of the FEMA personnel are holdovers from the Obama administration, including the manager responsible for oversight of this event.
An enormous amount of people, money, equipment, and effort will be needed to resurrect Houston and environs from this catastrophe. If you, dear reader, happen to be from Texas just remember who the REAL hero is behind the scenes: President Barrack Obama. If you as one of my fellow Texans voted for DT, I gratefully accept your humble apology.
One final point. No matter where you are from if you have not contributed to one of the many legitimate charities or organizations assisting in the survival and recovery effort going on in Texas, please do so now. It doesn’t have to be a lot. But if all of us chip in even a dollar it will assist the effort enormously. Those who have more, please give more.
