Thousands of Haitians have now left and are expected to leave the US for Canada. Most are coming in through NY, above Plattsburg, to Lacolle, Quebec, and are being temporarily "housed" in the concourse of the 1976 Olympic Stadium in Montreal, using toilets and showers in the athletic dressing rooms.
60,000 Haitians were given temporary refuge in the US after the devastating 2010 earthquake killed hundreds of thousands and left the country as if a bomb had blown it up. Trump is going to end the permission In January 2018, despite the fact these people have no place to go back to, the country is still devastated and they have built lives in the US, and had children.
This is already a human crisis here in Canada and for Quebec especially.
Similar temporary protected status for 86,000 Hondurans will end in January too, and for 260,00 El Salvadorans in March. They cannot go home, Trump will not let them stay, so Canada will have to carry the can for Trump's hateful approach to immigration and social responsibility.
