I moved right before November’s election. I filled out the online (California, from L.A. county to San Bernardino county) change-of-address form that was related to the Post Office change of address. At the time (last fall), during the primary I noticed for the first time that there was a 2nd row for a “Phil Merrill” at my same address. I have no idea how that got there.
My effort to vote from my new location was unsuccessful because my registration was rejected for unknown reasons I did not follow up on. On the other hand, I am now only registered at my previous address once. I hope when I move again at the end of the month, the registration at my previous address will disappear. For better or worse, I assumed at the time this was dirty tricks of some kind.
With all this news of hacking, I gotta ask if anyone else has had the same experience?
Feel free to tell me all the harmless sign-ups we make all over the place that result in double-entries on our voting reg info. I submitted this as a fraudulent registration to the Calif. Secretary of State but haven’t heard anything and I am still registered to vote at my previous address.
