Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin’s (D. WI) re-election campaign:
Health care is a right. It’s past time that we stand up as a country and recognize it.
I ran for office to improve health care — and policies I’ve championed, like coverage for pre-existing conditions and allowing children to stay on their parents' plans longer, have made headway.
But I think it’s time we lead boldly to make health care affordable and accessible for everyone. That’s why I’m proud to announce that I will be cosponsoring Senator Bernie Sanders’ Medicare for All bill. I’m also announcing my support for several other bills my colleagues have introduced to fix our health care system. Because like most Americans, I’m willing to hear any plan that will get health care costs down for families and make sure more people are covered.
The only way we’re going to really make change to our health care system is if we all speak out, will you join me? Please, put your name down to say that you support Medicare for All and finding solutions that makes things better.
Since my days in the House, I’ve been convinced we can find a way to make Medicare for All a viable solution to this country’s health care woes. I’m not saying that this is the silver bullet — but I do believe we have to start the conversation.
And I know where I want to start it — in the most developed and prosperous nation in the world, no citizen should have to fear they’re not going to be able to afford health care.
The fight for health care for all is going to be long, and it’s going to take all of us. Put your name down to stand with Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, and me to say you’re ready for Medicare for All.
In solidarity,
Tammy
