Rep. Barbara Comstock (VA-10) has been voting straight down the Republican line and her blue-ish D.C.-area district has likely had enough of her partisanship. Heading into 2018, no less than 10 opponents have lined up to challenge her for the seat. You’d think Comstock would be shoring up support, meeting with constituents, but like the majority of Republicans, she is refusing to hold a town hall.
Enter Dan Helmer. He’s kicking off his campaign with an ad that is going viral because it is so very bad. Some are calling it flat out the worst campaign ad they've ever seen. Seriously. As Esquire put it it, “Try to Make It Through This Entire Ad Without Cringing.”
It’s beyond cheesy. It’s terrible acting. The entire thing is cringeworthy. And I love it. Why? Because until I saw this ad, I had no idea who was running against Barbara Comstock, but I now know Dan Helmer’s name. You’re going to have a hard time forgetting this anytime soon.
Watch and you decide: Is it simply the worst ad you’ve ever seen? Or is it so bad it’s good?
