Let’s say you have money for your household for food for the coming month.
The two teenagers in the house continually barrage you with demands to let them choose their own food. They keep running ideas by you on how they’ll make great choices and are nearly adults and should have the Right, the freedom, to choose for themselves.
So, you decide to teach the kids a life lesson. You say, “okay.”
You divvy up the Food Fund and advance them their share, with the caveat that it’s all they’ll get till the next month. No matter what.
Guess what happens on day 20? They come crying to you that they spent it all on Delivery Pizza and other easy to confuse for healthy food choices, ones that were too expensive, and now all they have left for ten days? Dry oatmeal, a big sack of rice and two jars of Pepperoncini.
Now, imagine that the teenagers are really the States, and that money is a year’s worth of funding for what used to be Medicaid in their state, now called Block Grant funding. Without any regulations on how that state spends those funds.
Yeah. That’s why this is an idea so bad, only the Republican Congress under President #TinyhandsMagoo could come up with it. Because it requires that we all believe that there aren’t a bunch of states out there being run by hooligan teenagers who’ll blow that money on fighting to force abortion clincs become mini-emergency rooms if they want to keep the doors open. There are, and we all know it.
IF YOU HAVEN’T DONE IT YET
Now is the time to call your Senators and Congress(wo)man.
(202) 224-3121 is the Congressional Switchboard
Tell YOUR Senators and US House Rep that you want them to vote “NO” on this last effort to Repeal Obamacare. Because the CBO never scored it fully, they can’t even know what they’re voting on — and that is something that NO MEMBER OF CONGRESS should be willing to do, when the bill can affect up to 1/6th of the nation’s economy and WILL take insurance from millions, if not tens of millions of Americans if it is allowed to become Law.
