Greedy Trump is planning to kill tens of thousands of Americans with pre-existing conditions. Being a diabetic, I might lose my coverage as well. More than that, he will make us pay more for health insurance.
A new study by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) discovered that the older adults in America will take a hit of approximately $16,200 per year due to loss of health coverage as Trump’s administration repeals the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, or what is better known as ObamaCare.
Under the Graham-Cassidy bill is basically a war between the Republicans and the Democrats where the latter is the underdog. The AARP said:
“The (Graham-Cassidy) bill threatens to make healthcare unaffordable and inaccessible for millions of older Americans.”
According to the AARP study, the Americans over 60, making just $25,000 per year, will have to pay up to $16,174 per year on health insurance alone if the Obamacare subsidies that enable people to afford premiums and have a lax on immediate medical costs, are eliminated. The average for Alaska and Arizona will be even higher than the national average and can be way higher than the average yearly income of $25,000 itself.
Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy’s bill will convert the ObamaCare funds into block grants and though the states have a say in how to spend these grants but most of it is going out of the hands of the common people. Moreover, the expansion population support part of the block grant itself expires in 2026, risking the insurances of an additional 24 million people.
Healthcare groups like AHA and AMA, are strongly against the Graham-Cassidy Bill because of what it can do to American patients. Insurers AHIP warns that the Obamacare repeal will destabilize the market. Rick Pollack, President of AHA said:
“This proposal would erode key protections for patients and consumers and does nothing to stabilize the insurance market now or in the long term.”
The association representing almost 5,000 hospitals said this bill risks the health coverage for “tens of millions” of Americans. The bill will stop Medicaid expansion and cut its funds by $880 billion by 2020. Not only does the bill make things tougher for the poor, it also reduces taxes for the rich, helping them get richer, putting nothing but the lives of the poorer at stake.
Trump’s way of making America great again is not eliminating poverty, but eliminating the poor.
Donald Trump was basically a businessman with his line of hotels and his Atlantic City casino. Before he became President, this is what he was known for. This made Americans have high expectations in him as far as business is concerned, especially in the hotels and casino industry. He was never a man of Politics until he became the Republican nominee for President. That wasn’t exactly in his plans for ages. However, he surprised everybody by winning the elections even with his own unconventional attitude as a politician.
So, what is happening to the American casino industry with a former casino owner and hardcore businessperson as President? Well, he doesn’t seem to be doing too well with the casino industry either. It was only expected that a man who got elected by the rich privileged people by virtue of his promises to make America free from immigrants, will not be popular with different ethnic groups and with the lower economic classes of America. However, he is still expected to deliver good things for the rich.
Trump’s fellow Atlantic City professionals never really regarded him as someone who held gambling in high respect. It was always clearly just about the money for him. This is why there was not much excitement at the presidential nomination at the Cleveland national convention last year.
Gary Ehrlich, casino consultant, and previously a deputy director of Gaming Enforcement, New Jersey, stated without any circumlocution that:
“Trump has never seemed committed to gaming; just to making money.”
So, when we look at Trump, the businessman who is President, we need to know he is only a casino owner, who probably doesn’t care about gambling or gamblers at all. But, isn’t that enough for America’s gambling industry to prosper? Trump sure wants the American casinos to flourish. He cares about just one thing, that is money, but that might be a good thing in a twisted way in some cases, because he is focused on just what he wants. He isn’t torn between work ethics and profit. He isn’t torn between duties towards the people, and his wishes for himself.
So, the good thing here is, America and the world at least knows what’s in store with President Trump. He might be the worst President in the history of America, but he at least won’t go down in the History books as anybody else, with false quotations about things he didn’t mean.
But the question still remains, will his steady focus help the American casino industry bloom, or will his inexperience as a politician and just who he is as a person, cause more damage than good? To answer this, let’s go back 20 years before the world knew him as the President Elect. In 1996, 20 Afro-Americans sued him for racism in the casino industry and he lost millions of dollars in court settlements. And that happened again, and again. It doesn’t seem from his attitude that it is going to stop anytime soon.
Hence, we never really know where Trump takes the American casino industry in the next few years. Let’s hope it is good because America needs its casino industry in order to uphold whatever is left of its economic stability.
