In light of the recent “dis-invite” of Steph Curry and the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors to visit the White House, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday evening reminded both the Warriors and Curry that the offer to visit the US Capitol still stands. Pelosi and Congresswoman Barbara Lee extended the invitation shortly after the Warriors championship victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, and yesterday Pelosi re-extended it:
Lee represents the Warriors’s hometown of Oakland, CA, while Pelosi’s district is in nearby San Francisco, where the Warriors are building a new arena.
Yesterday’s tweet and the invitation are of course good politics, but it’s also the right thing to do.
The Warriors last week said that in lieu of a White House visit they “were considering visiting the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture when they visit D.C,” to play the Washington Wizards. Perhaps they can make some time for the US Capitol as well.
