The Rachel Maddow Show 9/5/17
Rachel Maddow looks back at the shameful role of eugenics in U.S. immigration policy in the 1920s and cites Jeff Sessions' praise for the policies of that time as an example of those racist roots resurgent in the Trump administration.
Jeff Sessions fuller statement:
In seven years we'll have the highest percentage of Americans, non-native born, since the founding of the Republic. Some people think we've always had these numbers, and it's not so, it's very unusual, it's a radical change.
When the numbers reached about this high in 1924, the president and congress changed the policy, and it slowed down immigration significantly, we then assimilated through the 1965 and created really the solid middle class of America, with assimilated immigrants, and it was good for America. We passed a law that went far beyond what anybody realized in 1965, and we're on a path to surge far past what the situation was in 1924.
“..it slowed down immigration”...”and it was good for America" — translation: Can’t have too many PoC and not enough “whites” if we want a “solid middle class of America..”

This is the GOP: Trump; Steve Bannon; Richard Spencer (TRMS video), The racist Heritage Foundation, Jason Richwine; John Tanton, Gorka, Steven Miller and the like
The party of Eugenics. The party that seeks a racial hierarchy. With ..”a noble, long lived and God-like race” in charge.
Steve Bannon’s ‘Manifest Destiny’ (or Eurasianism) of White nationalism / White supremacy in America.
Aka MAGA.
This:
For decades the “conservatives” have couched their racist agenda as one of economics and jobs; taking their talking points from the racist think tank/lobbying firm/and one stop legislation mill; — > the Heritage Foundation.
It is a lie..
..and it always has been.
That is the republican motivation behind the cruel gutting of the DACA program. To divide and conquer, pitting workers against one another using alt-facts, racial slurs, innuendo and carefully crafted sound bites disparaging one group as the enemy of another.
Eugenics is an ugly, awful, part of the past, but unfortunately obtains to this day.
And no. Both side are not sinking to this disgraceful low level:
- nothing I’ve posted is news to most everyone here @ Daily Kos.
Rachel Maddow has done so much excellent sleuthing on this when this country and its people really need to know just how down low the GOP is willing to take this country... again — so I’m hoping help spread the word about “conservative" history that the msm seems to avoid reporting more often than not
THE RACHEL MADDOW SHOW 9/4/17
Racists saw early opportunity in Trump presidency
Rachel Maddow revisits a racist rally that took place shortly after Donald Trump's election victory at which attendees shouted, "Hail Trump!" in celebration of their expectations of the advancement of their racist cause.
(warning explicit violent racism on display)
Note: many republican voters & republican politicians do not endorse this extreme racism, yet so far, few if any have taken a stand to remove this malignant cancer from our government.
Instead the leadership of the GOP have been actively engaged in covering up for the illegal, illegitimate and unconstitutional Trump regime, and there is ample evidence that there are those within the republican party that have actually aided and abetted in collusion with the #TrumpRussia 2016 election interference.
All of this defines the corporate shell company aka as today’s GOP — imo
On a personal note, and why I’m spreading the word on this Rachel Maddow reporting:
Before the elections I made a mistake. I underestimated a lot of things, including the power of propaganda and Big Money in our democratic process. I failed to recognize the depth of depravity within the GOP, and didn’t listen to or take seriously the effect that the vitriol in the social media had on the msm and how that was influencing the upcoming elections
A friend named Jennifer and co-worker at the time doing the creek rock work on the house, who was much more into Face Book and twitter than I am, would arrive at work each day with anxious questions about Trump’s chances of actually winning. Jennifer would relay the latest stories circulating on Face Book and Twitter, not just by the rwnj’s, but the supposed centrist forums. An overload of ridiculous "crooked Hillary” stories, each one with too many off shoot bullshit stories to count
At first I told her that, according to the polls, there was little chance of that happening, but I would caution her that the propaganda was so rampant that it I wouldn’t rule it out.
My mistake was that I didn’t stress enough that despite the polls, Trump and the GOP was still a threat.
Instead, I reassured Jennifer that normally the polls are a pretty good indicator of what is to come. At least in a general sense.
I reassured her even as I had deep misgivings about my own reassurances, knowing full well that with Chris Jankowski’s RedMap (gerrymandering) and dozens of republican controlled states with numerous voter suppression laws, repeated and thoroughly researched warnings from Ari Berman about 2016 being the “First Presidential Election Since Voting Rights Act Gutted" and the almost unprecedented (and absurd) amount of free MSM coverage Trump was receiving,… that nothing about the 2016 elections was even close to normal.
I won’t make that mistake again — thanks for stopping by and hearing me out
