One of the places I find the links I post is in Cricklers, which is an online word puzzle site. I figured out several years ago that the couple who does them lives somewhere in the Pacific Northwest, and at about the same time, that they are rip-roaring conservatives (if they use an article about some progressive issue, they almost always manage to rephrase something in what they use to give it a nasty twist). Last week I learned that they are raging Trumpites. Gah. I will keep doing the puzzles, which I do find to be a challenge, but I will also be even more careful of which of their links I use.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Oh, dearie my! A robot flipping hamburgers in California.
And chickens as a Silicon Valley status symbol!
Some new finds on ancient Nubia and Meroe. More of same, with more pictures. I’ve been very interested in Meroe since I first read Wraiths of Time by Andre Norton.
I read the “Baldo” comic online every day. I particularly like the March 10 one this week.

My secondborn lives in CA-25. She is NOT happy with her representative, and is very much looking forward to being able to vote for the other candidate.
My refrigerator has had to be repaired. It eked out a couple of extra days at the coldest setting, but it wasn’t new when I moved in in 2004 and would have burned out if the guy hadn’t come real soon to fix it. I certainly can’t fault the rental company for the prioritizing of repairs — I had just bought a whole lot of groceries and didn’t want to throw them out. I have looked up what it would cost me to buy one that would fit in the space and do what I need — I can probably afford it next year, since I will have paid off my Neptune Society membership by then.

Does anybody else find that their comments that get the most response are the off-the-cuff smartass ones?

I ran across a method for disinfecting kitchen counters and other areas that requires two spray bottles and stuff most people routinely have. In one bottle, mix equal amounts of white vinegar and water; in the other, put hydrogen peroxide. Spray down the area to be disinfected with the diluted vinegar, let sit for a few minutes and wipe up with a damp cloth. Spray the same area with the hydrogen peroxide, let sit for a few minutes and wipe up with a different cloth. Don’t skip the wiping up between — vinegar and hydrogen peroxide do not safely mix (so doing this when windows can be open is probably a good idea).

Have I mentioned that my grandson’s classmates seem to adore him? He tells me that two of them (one girl, one boy) have definite crushes on him.
He’s certainly got a far busier social life than the rest of the family. This past week: Monday, Spanish class after school; Tuesday, time on the playground with a couple/three classmates after school; Wednesday, chess club after school; Thursday, playdate with the kid who invited him over on the first day of school; Friday, playdate with one of the classmates who lives outside the immediate area. I wonder what will happen next week.
One of the neighbors — a woman about my age who used to work with my daughter — broke her right arm just below the shoulder, apparently during a class at the gym where she has a membership. I don’t know exactly when, since I only rarely see the woman, but my granddaughter seems to have been helping her out with walking her dog and taking her trash out. I found all this out when I ran into the woman walking her dog (who does not like me [the feeling is mutual]) as I was leaving to pick up my grandson’s backpack on Friday.
When I got to the school, my grandson was very upset. It seems the friend he was supposed to go home with had told him it wasn’t going to happen. This being news to me, I suggested he ask the kid’s mother. It took her a minute, and a few questions to her son, but it seems there had been a miscommunication that morning and a music lesson was NOT going to interfere with my grandson’s visit. Which cheered him up no end. Immediately.

And have we all finished resetting those of our clocks/watches that do not do it automatically? I don’t mind Daylight Saving Time, but I do hate having to reset my clocks twice a year.
