Donald Trump sure has taken a 180 from his certainty last summer that he was “100 percent” willing to testify about his conversations with former FBI director James Comey. That was so last year, apparently, given his comments Wednesday during a press conference with Norway Prime Minister Erna Solberg.
“We'll see what happens,” Trump said in response to whether he would be open to meeting with Special Counsel Robert Mueller without conditions. “Certainly I'll see what happens, but when they have no collusion and nobody's found any collusion, at any level, it seems unlikely you'd even have an interview.”
Actually, if there’s “no collusion”—something Trump managed to drop at least seven times during the brief Q/A—then what’s the aversion to the interview, Trumpy?
The real collusion, he said, is between “the Democrats and the Russians.” To that, we say, keep on digging, Trumpy. There’s nothing like claiming “no collusion” on national TV while talk of obstruction of justice and a potential special counsel interview swirl around you!
Other tidbits from the press conference included Trump’s further fixation with Hillary Clinton, who he seems to believe he’s running against for office. Among other things, he homed in on the fact that “Hillary was for windmills” in contrast to himself. “I am for massive oil,” he declared, presumably declaring his allegiance to crude rather than his hair.
The bonus here is that he not only managed to sound stupid, he also managed to insult his guest. It just so happens that last year Norway completed a massive wind farm powered by—you guessed it!—windmills.
The 50-turbine Tellenes wind farm will produce 160 MW of power – making it the biggest facility of its kind in Norway, and Google’s largest in Europe.
Trump effectively said, Hillary was stupid and weak and so are you and your people with your stupid wind farms, Madam Prime Minister.
“Genius!”
