North Carolina pastor, speaker and author John Pavlovitz continues to share his views on the state of the country, the state of Christianity, the state of Donald Trump and the state of being. His popular blog called, “Stuff that needs to be said”—lives up its name. Pavlovitz has a gift of being able to say and write how many of us feel. To the dismay of ultra-Rightwing Conservatives, Pavlovitz often sways to the Left in his messaging. He is a man of Christian faith who has no problem stating he is part of #TheResistance.
In November, Pavlovitz wrote a poignant piece called, “If you voted for Donald Trump, you owe my children an apology.” Here are some excerpts. Pavlovitz begins with a list of reasons why Trump voters, supporters and fanatics should apologize to his children. The Christian pastor is angry that his children have to grow up with a president who is a hateful, incompetent, petulant, predatory monster. Pavlovitz is also angry with Trump voters for these reasons...
For placing their safety in the hands of an impulsive child, who trolls world leaders with nuclear weapons and wields our military like an insecure coward brandishes a gun at a party.
For unleashing the fierce tide of bullying, racism, bigotry, and homophobia they have to see in their classrooms and ball fields and neighborhoods—because the man you chose has repeatedly encouraged and legislated it.
Trump voters should apologize, Pavlovitz says, for coddling Trump’s defense of those “nice” Nazis and White Supremacists and for confusing children into believing Trump is a Christian—when he’s close to everything Jesus is against. The North Carolina pastor tells Trump voters that they owe his daughter and apology for excusing Trump’s “reprehensible words” about women during the 2016 presidential campaign—and ignoring the sexual allegations made against him. Trump supporters owe his son an apology for asking him to look up to a so-called leader who is rewarded for sexism, ignorance and repugnant behavior—the same behavior Pavlovitz teaches his children to never engage in or abide by those around him. John Pavlovitz censures Trump voters/supporters for doubling down on the “toxicity” that has been released during and after the election. But besides owing an apology to his children, Pavlovitz tells Trump voters they owe their own children an apology too.
If your children one day become ill, they too will have a difficult time affording care or staying alive without going broke.
They too will have to breathe the air and drink the water and reside on the planet that this President leaves to rot.
Let Trump voters puff out their chests and boast online, Pavlovitz says, and let them stick to “the fading lie” that they’ve won something or “struck a blow for America or Jesus or patriotism.” In the end, Pavlovitz writes, Trump voters have let a lot of people down—“my children, your children and the children of this country and the planet.” To read the whole piece click, here.

As a liberal Christian, I cannot be more grateful to leaders in faith who continue to speak out loudly against right-wing corruption—or any kind of corruption. Their voices are needed now more than ever. Every voice of resistance is needed right now. Thank you to John Pavlovitz.
