Fox News ran a front page story about how Obama said their viewers “live on a different planet” than those who get their news from legitimate news sources. (He actually said “NPR”, but that’s clearly what he meant.) Fox was extremely butt-hurt about this—hence, the front-page treatment.
Yet notice something else.
This is a screen grab from Fox News in the early morning hours of 1/13/18. Look closely:
- There’s the front page montage of the Las Vegas shooter (with a misleading headline), Mudslides, and, as always, the evil Obama. (Obama and Hillary appear more than Trump.)
- There’s the bashing of Black Lives Matter as you can see in the top “exclusive” clip.
- There’s Hannity video on the top left of Nancy Pelosi’s “controversial comments”—(Sure Sean, EVERYONE is going to want to talk about something Nancy said).
- There’s the top editor’s pick to call attention to a KKK leader’s death. Very important news to their viewers, no doubt. Almost as important as the other pick that highlights how awesome Iranians think Trump is.
I guess what I should have had you try to discover is what Fox IS NOT showing. Something that is on every other network in the US and the world.
For comparison, look at CNN:
All in all, a pretty big news day.
Trump blatantly insulted an entire continent, El Salvador, and Haiti during a rant against black/brown immigrants while declaring his wish for more white immigrants.
He then dug himself a hole by contradicting EVERYONE and showed himself a liar, while simultaneously showing the pure spinelessness and racial intolerance of every GOP member of the House and Senate.
As if that wasn't enough, the US ambassador to Panama resigned over Trump’s bigotry. This all happened the same day the news broke that his lawyers arranged payment for a porn star’s silence on Trump’s sleazeball behavior.
Go to NPR, the Guardian, MSN, Reddit, Bloomberg, whatever…. Trump’s explosive scandal is being covered. Even rightwing media is all over it because they have been spinning FURIOUSLY trying to justify his racist remarks—right after they convince you that he never said it in the first place.
Yet on the front page of Fox—nothing.
While Fox is expressing outrage over Obama --as always—they prove his point. Fox viewers are on another planet.
The planet of intentionally uninformed morons.
