Rear Admiral Ronny Jackson, the President’s physician, has demonstrated a lack of professionalism and should be fired, first for failing to explain height and weight measurements which were certain to challenge the credulity of people everywhere, and second for overlooking obvious danger signs with regard to Trump’s LDL cholesterol level.
No one paying any attention to the matter believes Trump is 6-3 let alone 6-3 and 239 pounds. To present these numbers as fact shows that Dr. Jackson either failed to verify the numbers, in which case he did not do the basic requirements of his profession, or he joined the team of White House sycophants who lie on Trump’s behalf like the dotard himself. (Or maybe these are just more Kellyanne Conway alternative facts.)
While there is room for debate in the medical community about the implications of high LDL numbers, there is no justification for pronouncing a 71-year-old with a 143 reading to be “in excellent health” as discussed in the NY Times article. Jackson’s lack of sober attention to this serious matter reflects badly on his profession, the US Navy, and the country.
Any military physician in a lesser position would be disciplined or relieved of duty for unprofessional actions like these. It would take monumental integrity and courage for his immediate supervisor to take such action in this case, but it would be in the nation’s interest.
